By default, Rivian locks and unlock automatically while you walk away/towards it. This can be very annoying at home. Fortunately, Rivian supports customizing the proximity locking behavior at home.
- Go to "Settings"
- Go to "Vehicle"
- Go to "Access"
- Go to "Proximity locking"
- Choose "Disable" under "Locking behavior at home".
Then how do you unlock Rivian at home if you disable proximity locking at home? You can of course unlock it from the Rivian app. However, gen 2 Rivian has a very neat feature which allows you to touch the nub on the handle to unclok it at home.
Notice that even with proximity locking disabled at home, your Rivian vehicle still might randomly unlocks (due to various reasons). If you are annoied by this behavior, you can completely disable proximity locking on your Rivian.
