Cleaning Trane CleanEffects™ Whole-House Air Filtration System
You should clean the charging cell points with a piece of foam included in the original packing
Trane CleanEffects Whole-home Electrostatic Air Cleaner
How it works
The CleanEffects system has two main filter components: a pre-filter and a set of reusable collection cells.
Pre-filter: Air first passes through a reusable pre-filter, which removes larger particles like lint and hair. Field charger: After the pre-filter, air is drawn through an electrically charged field. This charges the remaining fine particles, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, and mold spores. Collection cells: The charged particles are then attracted to and trapped on the oppositely charged collection cells, much like static electricity. Clean air delivery: Because the collection cells capture particles without restricting airflow, the CleanEffects system maintains a high rate of clean air delivery.
Cleaning and maintenance
Collection cells are a key part of the CleanEffects system because they are washable and do not require frequent replacement. Cleaning frequency: Trane recommends cleaning the collection cells about once every 6 months, or when the system's indicator light shows it's time for maintenance. Cleaning process: The primary method for cleaning is vacuuming. You should remove the cells from the unit and use a vacuum hose with an attachment to clean both sides. Washing caution: Some older "CleanEffects 200" collection cells can be damaged by water. If your cells have a "200/200-1" marking, you can wash them with a low-pressure spray. If the mark is not present, use a vacuum only. Drying: If you wash the cells, they must be completely dry before reinstallation to prevent mold growth and potential system faults.
Benefits
Superior filtration: The system can remove up to 99.98% of airborne allergens as small as 0.1 microns, making it significantly more effective than standard 1-inch filters. Better for allergy sufferers: By removing more irritants from the air, the system can help alleviate allergy and asthma symptoms. Reduced dusting: Trane claims the improved air quality can reduce the need to dust your home by up to 50%. Low operating cost: Since the collection cells are reusable and don't need to be replaced, the system has very low long-term operating costs.
